JAKARTA - WhatsApp is seen testing a new interface in the beta version through the TestFlight service. In the trial, WhatsApp will move the Status update to the main Chat tab.
In the current stable version, Status updates can only be viewed through the Updates tab. If the Status position is moved to the Chat tab, users will only see content related to Channel recommendations or Channels they follow in the Updates tab.
According to WABetaInfo's findings, users will see a carousel of Status from their contacts at the top of the Chat list. This display is very similar to the Story format that has been used for a long time on Instagram and Facebook.
To maintain the aesthetics of the Chat tab, the Status update will not be visible permanently. Users need to pull the screen down from the top to display the feature, similar to the mechanism used in Telegram.
This new interface also includes special shortcuts for users to quickly upload Status. After that, the list will continue with uploads from other contacts sorted by the most frequent level of interaction.
WhatsApp's algorithm system will prioritize the most relevant contacts to appear first in the list. At the end of the line, users can still see the status of the contacts they have muted.
Just like the previous rule, every Status update will disappear automatically after 24 hours of airing. Users can decorate their uploads with various creative elements such as stickers, music, and interesting visual effects.
