iPhone 18 Pro Leaks: Dynamic Island Reduced by 35%

Apple is again causing a stir even before the product is released. The latest leaks show that the iPhone 18 Pro may come with a "cleaner" screen design, thanks to a significant reduction in the Dynamic Island.

This information comes from a circulating screen protector image, indicating a change in the size of the typical Apple screen cut-out - which was first introduced since the iPhone 14 Pro.

If this leak is accurate, the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro could shrink by about 35%, making it one of the most striking design changes in recent generations.

Face ID Starting to “Disappear” from the Screen

This shrinkage is not just aesthetic. Apple is said to have started moving some of the Face ID components to the bottom of the screen, including the infrared flood illuminator sensor.

This step opens up space to shrink the cutout area on the screen. However, the main infrared camera is estimated to still require a physical hole, so the Dynamic Island is not completely gone.

Over the past few years, Apple has been rumored to be developing under-display technology, but faces major challenges, especially in maintaining the accuracy and reliability of Face ID - a key feature in the Pro line.

This leak indicates that Apple is beginning to find a fairly mature technical solution to be implemented gradually.

In addition to design, the iPhone 18 Pro is also rumored to bring major improvements in the performance and camera sectors. The device is said to be powered by a 2nm-based A20 Pro chip as well as a camera system with a variable aperture.

Battery improvements and efficiency are also expected to be a focus, as competition in the flagship market gets tighter.

If all of these rumors come to fruition, the iPhone 18 Pro could be a major step towards Apple's vision: a full screen without distractions - where the notch and punch hole are history.
