Dasco Says Discussion of Ojol Presidential Regulation Remains One Meeting

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Sufmi Dasco Ahmad said that the discussion of the draft presidential regulation regarding online motorcycle taxis (ojol) left one meeting for finalization with the government.

Dasc said the meeting was scheduled to take place at the DPR on Tuesday (18/8) by inviting relevant ministries.

"There is still one more time to finalize how the government calculates the transportation that carries people and goods. A little more. So, on August 18 there will be another meeting in the DPR. We invite the relevant ministries to present the final," he said as reported by ANTARA, Friday, August 14.

According to Dasco, the meeting is necessary to ensure that the formulation of the regulation does not cause differences in interpretation in its implementation.

"As a supervisory agency, we want to ensure that the product does not cause dynamics again," he said.

Before finalization, the DPR also plans to invite online motorcycle taxi application providers to get input regarding the draft regulation.

Previously, Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi said the draft presidential regulation was focused on two-wheeled vehicle services for transporting people and goods.

"The focus is on arranging the movement of people and goods. Two wheels, yes," said Dudy.

According to him, the government is finalizing the norms in the draft presidential regulation to avoid differences in interpretation, including regarding the delivery service of goods and documents.

The Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi previously also said that the draft regulation would regulate online motorcycle taxi drivers in the micro, small, and medium business (UMKM) category.

Minister of MSME Maman Abdurrahman said that this status is expected to provide flexibility to ojol drivers while opening access to a number of policies and incentives for MSMEs.

Maman also denied information that ojol drivers would automatically be taxed after being categorized as MSMEs.

"I want to clarify that if someone tells stories, saying that ojol will be taxed, this is all kinds of things, I clarify, no. So, 100 percent it is a hoax issue," he said.
