JAKARTA - Fear of running out of battery in the middle of the road alias "range anxiety" will slowly become a long story. Google officially presents a new AI-based feature on Google Maps that is specifically designed for electric car users.

Through this update, Google Maps on Android Auto is now able to predict battery usage more accurately and plan trips more intelligently - including determining charging points.

This feature immediately supports more than 350 electric vehicle models from 16 major brands, marking Google's serious step in developing an increasingly competitive EV ecosystem.

This new technology utilizes artificial intelligence to analyze various important factors, ranging from the weight and capacity of the vehicle's battery, real-time traffic conditions, road elevation, to weather.

As a result, users can see a much more realistic battery estimate during the trip. The system also automatically suggests the optimal charging station location if the power is estimated to be insufficient to reach the destination.

A number of major brands that have received this feature include BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, to Hyundai and Volkswagen.

The way it works is quite simple. Users only need to enter the type of vehicle in the Google Maps application, then determine the destination. The system will then calculate the estimated battery consumption and adjust the route automatically.

Interestingly, users can also set a battery life target when arriving at their destination. If you want to arrive with a certain reserve, Google Maps will add additional charging points along the route.

Although it is currently only available for certain EV models - especially in the United States market - Google ensures that support will be expanded to more brands and vehicles in the near future.

This step emphasizes the direction of the automotive industry which is increasingly dependent on software and AI integration. In the era of electric cars, not only the engine is smart - navigation also "levels up".
