JAKARTA - Roblox, a popular gaming platform, stated that they would follow the Government Regulation (PP) TUNAS which will be implemented in the near future. This decision was taken to protect its users.

Following in the footsteps of Australia and a number of other countries, Indonesia will block access to social media for children under the age of 16. One of the platforms targeted by this rule is Roblox.

In an official statement shared by Matt Kaufman, Roblox's Chief Security Officer, the platform will adjust its protection system to the rules made by the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi).

The company also said that it will launch additional controls for all content and communications that run on the platform. This is done to prevent the spread of harmful content to minors.

"This week, we announced that to meet regional needs in Indonesia, we will soon introduce additional controls on content and communication for players under the age of 16 in Indonesia," Kaufman said, launching from Reuters on Wednesday, March 25.

Roblox is committed to continuing to work with Komdigi in implementing PP TUNAS. According to the company, this commitment needs to be carried out, especially since Indonesia is one of Roblox's markets with a large number of active players.

"Roblox is proud to serve a dynamic and enthusiastic global community, including millions of players from Indonesia, by providing a positive online space to learn, create, and have fun," said Roblox.

PP Tunas will take effect on March 25. In addition to Roblox, other platforms that will block users under the age of 16 are YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, X, and Bigo Live.
