Leverage NVIDIA's Nemotron Technology, Indosat Expands AI Access to the Corners of Indonesia

JAKARTA - Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) and NVIDIA have collaborated to expand its access to artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia, by utilizing the open-source Nemotron model.

By combining cutting-edge AI models, national infrastructure, and an easily accessible digital platform, Indosat seeks to bring the benefits of AI closer to people's daily lives - from classrooms, creative communities, to businesses and public institutions throughout Indonesia.

To support this ambition, Indosat is also building a distributed AI Grid, by utilizing a network of data centers and network infrastructure spread throughout Indonesia as the foundation of the national AI ecosystem.

Through the distribution of AI computing capabilities in various locations, this infrastructure will provide closer AI access for developers, businesses, and communities in various regions.

"We believe that the future of AI in Indonesia must be enjoyed by everyone, not just in big cities or by certain industries," said President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, Vikram Sinha.

He believes this approach allows for faster access to AI computing power while opening up wider opportunities for innovation, not just in major cities.

As this AI Grid develops, Indosat hopes to accelerate the development of local AI solutions and ensure that the benefits of artificial intelligence can be felt by people throughout the archipelago.

"By combining world-class technologies such as NVIDIA's Nemotron model, our national AI infrastructure, and platforms such as Sahabat-AI, we want to bring the benefits of AI closer to the daily lives of people throughout Indonesia," he concluded.

On top of this infrastructure, Indosat also presents Sahabat-AI, an AI-based application platform designed to make AI technology more accessible to the public.

Available on Android and iOS, Sahabat-AI serves as an application as well as an open platform that allows individuals and organizations to utilize various AI capabilities - from helping write, research, coding, image creation, to more in-depth analysis.
