JAKARTA - Smartphone manufacturer OnePlus has started to reveal the official details of its latest device, the OnePlus 15T, ahead of its launch in China on March 24. The main focus this time is on the camera sector, with significant improvements in zoom capabilities and image processing technology.
The OnePlus 15T is equipped with a 50-megapixel main camera using a Sony IMX906 sensor, which is known to have better light capture capabilities and high dynamic range. This sensor is claimed to be able to maintain image detail even in difficult lighting conditions.
On the other hand, the periscope telephoto camera also carries a resolution of 50 megapixels, with the possibility of using a Samsung JN5 sensor. This camera supports optical zoom up to 3.5x, and is expanded to 7x lossless zoom through software-based image processing.
With an equivalent focal length of 85mm, this telephoto camera is designed for more natural portrait photography, with minimal perspective compression and more proportional facial details.
One of the main highlights is the presence of the LUMO imaging platform - a technology first introduced by Oppo and now adapted to the OnePlus device. This system combines optical data from various focal lengths with computational processing to produce a more realistic depth effect.
LUMO also comes equipped with a digital engine that is capable of reconstructing depth effects with precision, as well as ProXDR technology that ensures HDR quality is maintained from the preview stage to the final result. As a result, photos are expected to have more accurate skin tones and more natural bokeh effects.
To maintain image stability, this device also comes with an optical image stabilization (OIS) feature on the rear camera, to reduce blur and increase sharpness.
Outside the camera, the OnePlus 15T is said to bring a 6.32-inch flat OLED screen with a 1.5K resolution and a 165Hz refresh rate. Performance is supported by a flagship-class chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, paired with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.1 storage.
The power sector is also a concern, with a large 7,500mAh battery that supports 100W fast charging via cable and 50W wirelessly.
With a combination of powerful camera hardware and a computational photography approach through LUMO, OnePlus seems to be serious about challenging the dominance of other brands in mobile photography.
