Telkomsel 5G Network Will Be Present In Solo, Balikpapan And Medan

JAKARTA - Not only in Jakarta, Telkomsel will test 5G networks in three other big cities, such as Balikapapn, Medan and Solo. Later this fifth generation internet service will gradually be expanded throughout Indonesia.

"The presence of the 5G network in these three cities is the beginning of a continuous effort that is carried out in a measurable manner, with the hope that in the future it can accelerate people's digital lifestyle experiences," said Telkomsel President Director Hendri Mulya Syam.

On the same occasion, Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Johnny G Plate, said the 5G network would be a strong digital foundation for internet services in the country.

"The government together with telecommunications operators will carry out simultaneous operations, namely coexist between 4G and 5G, where in the future 5G will be developed gradually according to the maturity of the ecosystem, especially in pioneer cities, namely Surakarta and 7 other cities," said Johnny.

In the initial phase of the launch, Telkomsel 5G services in the three cities are available in several areas whose coverage will continue to be gradually expanded. For the city of Medan, the Telkomsel 5G coverage area includes the GraPARI Telkom Group Medan area, the residential area of BHR Residence (Bukit Hijau Regency), Taman Setia Budi Indah (Tasbih 1) and Government Service Housing on Jalan Jenderal Sudirman.

In Surakarta, Telkomsel's 5G network coverage covers the Surakarta City Hall and GraPARI Surakarta areas. Meanwhile, in the city of Balikpapan, the Telkomsel 5G network can already be enjoyed at GraPARI Balikpapan.

In addition, in the future, the general customer segment can use it to support daily activities, such as Cloud Gaming, VR, 5G Roaming, and 5G FWA (Fixed Wireless Access).

At the launch moment in the city of Surakarta, located at the Surakarta City Hall, Telkomsel also presented a demonstration of using 5G network access for future digital services that can be utilized to maximize the operational transformation of government agencies, especially local governments.
