JAKARTA - The first wave of reviews for the latest iPhone 17e mobile phone has begun to emerge, and the majority call this device a "cheap but solid" version of the iPhone line. The reviewers assess that Apple has managed to fix a number of shortcomings that were previously criticized on the iPhone 16e.

Apple's latest entry-level phone comes with improved performance thanks to the Apple A19 chip and support for MagSafe magnetic charging, two features that are considered to be the most significant changes compared to the previous generation.

Tech media Engadget rates the iPhone 17e as a solid entry-level phone for users who want to enter the Apple ecosystem without having to spend a lot of money.

In her review, reviewer Cherlynn Low highlighted several major improvements such as faster processor performance, larger storage capacity, improved portrait mode on the camera, and the presence of MagSafe.

"The iPhone 17e is a solid entry-level phone for anyone who wants to get into the Apple ecosystem in a simple way," he wrote.

Although the A19 chip carries a new neural accelerator to process artificial intelligence features, the performance difference is still relatively small in the early stages. In some tests, the iPhone 17e is only slightly faster than its predecessor in recognizing objects or removing elements in photo apps.

Meanwhile, technology media The Verge calls the iPhone 17e a device that corrects some of the mistakes of the previous model, especially with increased memory and the addition of MagSafe.

However, reviewer Allison Johnson also warned of a pricing dilemma. He said that the standard model of the iPhone 17 is indeed more expensive by about 200 US dollars, but offers more complete features.

Even though the performance of the chip on the iPhone 17e is slightly cut compared to the A19 version on the iPhone 17, the difference in performance is considered quite thin so that it is difficult to distinguish in everyday use.

But there is still a compromise that shows its status as the cheapest iPhone. The screen bezel is thicker, there is a notch on the screen, and the absence of an ultrawide camera is some of the limitations that are still felt.

Tech media TechRadar assessed that the iPhone 17e is not a major revolution, but it is quite meaningful in perfecting the formula for affordable iPhone classes that were previously introduced through the iPhone 16e.

According to reviewer Jacob Krol, the increase in the A19 chip and storage capacity is the most important improvement, while new color options such as pink give a fresh touch to the design.

Overall, tech media reviews gave the device a fairly positive score. Engadget gave it a score of 80 out of 100, The Verge gave it a score of 7 out of 10, while TechRadar gave it four out of five stars.
