JAKARTA - Kaspersky research shows that the majority of organizations in Indonesia choose an outsourcing or hybrid model in building a Security Operations Center (SOC).
This finding comes as cyber threat complexity increases and organizations need to ensure security monitoring is running all the time.
In the survey, the global cybersecurity company found that around 91% of organizations in Indonesia plan to outsource at least some of their SOC functions.
Of that number, 63% chose a hybrid approach, combining internal capabilities with external support. Meanwhile, 28% of organizations are ready to switch completely to the SOC-as-a-Service (SOCaaS) model.
In contrast, only 9% of organizations plan to build a fully internal SOC. This figure highlights the major challenges in maintaining 24/7 monitoring and attracting qualified cybersecurity specialists.
Regionally, a similar trend is also seen in Asia Pacific. Kaspersky research shows that almost 93% of organizations in the region choose outsourcing or hybrid, with the majority (64%) leaning towards the mixed model, while 29% adopt full SOCaaS.
Managing Director for Asia Pacific at Kaspersky, Adrian Hia, said organizations are now starting to move to a hybrid because the SOC team is considered to remain effective amid increasing operational and regulatory demands.
SOC outsourcing allows organizations to delegate various important functions to external providers, ranging from SOC design and architecture, technology implementation and maintenance, threat monitoring and analysis, to consulting and training services.
In the survey, the most frequently outsourced tasks include the installation and implementation of security solutions (55%), the development and provision of solutions (53%), and SOC design (47%).
"By offloading routine and technical tasks, organizations can concentrate on high-value activities such as strategic decision-making and coordinating responses to sophisticated threats," said Sergey Soldatov, Head of the Security Operations Center at Kaspersky.
