US Bans Sales of Latest Drones from DJI and Foreign Companies

JAKARTA - The US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) officially included DJI on the national security blacklist. The Chinese drone company can no longer sell its latest products in the US.

Launching from a report by the South China Morning Post, DJI is now considered a company that poses a risk to US security. This is bad news for DJI because the company controls more than half of the drone market in the region.

For the US government, this step is considered an improvement in efforts to crack down on Chinese-made technology. The drone company that was blacklisted was not only DJI, but also other major companies such as Shenzhen-based Autel.

This decision was taken after the FCC received the results of an interagency review held by the White House. The review highlighted the security risks posed by foreign-made drone devices.

With the issuance of this decision, DJI will not get a sales permit for their products in the future. In addition to harming the company, this step will also have an impact on the commercial drone industry in the US.

DJI said it was disappointed with the decision. According to the company, this unilateral decision was made without any transparent information being released regarding the basis for decision-making.

This restriction is predicted to disrupt the drone supply chain in various sectors, ranging from infrastructure to emergency services. Many parties are now starting to look for local drone product alternatives to replace DJI drones.
