JAKARTA - OpenAI has just launched a significant update that gives users more detailed control to set the personality of ChatGPT according to their needs. If previously users could only choose from a few rigidly defined character profiles, this latest update allows users to mix and match various personality traits independently.

Through the personalization settings menu, users can now set the intensity of the artificial intelligence assistant's speech style with the "More", "Default", or "Little" level options, so that the interaction becomes much more flexible and personal.

This new feature covers various communicative aspects, ranging from the level of warmth in answering to the frequency of using visual elements such as emojis, headers, and lists of points.

For example, a user can set ChatGPT to keep a friendly personality but with a lower level of enthusiasm so that it doesn't feel too exaggerated. Although this change seems simple, the response from the user community is very positive, especially for those who often use ChatGPT in a professional work environment and prefer a neutral, concise, and formal tone of voice compared to the default style which tends to be very cheerful and expressive.

Although well-received, some users noted that they expected an "None" option to completely remove a certain trait, rather than just reducing it.

This innovation is part of OpenAI's ongoing efforts to improve the user experience, which has previously also introduced a conversation embedding feature for quick access, a ChatGPT-specific app store, as well as increased speed and accuracy in their image processing technology to compete with the latest models from competitors such as Google's Nano Banana.

This move reaffirms OpenAI's focus on making their AI not just a functional tool, but an assistant that can adapt to each individual's unique preferences.
