JAKARTA - Google and Samsung officially injected three new capabilities into the Galaxy XR, making this headset much more flexible for work, entertainment, and communication. The three features are PC Connect, Likeness, and Travel Mode.

Everything began rolling out to users in the United States and South Korea after being introduced to The Android Show XR Edition.

This launch marks Google's aggressive move to expand its Android-based XR ecosystem, especially after rising competition in the mixed reality realm. Google puts these three new features as the foundation of XR's more personal and productive experiences.

The first feature, PC Connect, allows users to display a computer screen directly to the Galaxy XR. Users simply run the Google PC Connect application to mirror the entire desktop or only one particular application or game. Even though it is still beta, its function is stable enough for daily work, it can even replace the physical monitor completely.

Google also says Gemini can help users analyze games or improve playing performance when this feature is used, while games like Cities: Skyines II can be displayed on giant virtual screens that provide a different point of view.

The second feature, Likeness, is designed for communication. Through the Likeness application which is also still in beta phase, users can create digital avatars that are very similar to themselves. This avatar can be used when making video calls via Google Meet, complete with real-time facial expressions. This solution is intended for users who do not want to appear directly on camera, without sacrificing their visual presence in meetings.

Meanwhile, Travel Mode is the most relevant feature for users who travel frequently. Travel Mode creates an immersive cinematic screen display that remains stable even if the user is on an airplane or vehicle.

This feature keeps the virtual workspace calm and not affected by shocks, making the Galaxy XR more comfortable to use on the way.

These three features are released through a gradual update. Galaxy XR users in the US and South Korea can already check their availability. This launch confirms Google and Samsung's ambition to expand XR's role not only as entertainment tools, but also as a tool for work and communication that is more integrated with everyday digital life.
