JAKARTA NVIDIA can now send its advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) chip again, the H200 chip, to China. This is good news for NVIDIA who wants to increase its revenue.
According to a TechCrunch report, the US Department of Commerce has given NVIDIA the green light. With this decision, the Intel competitor can sell his high-end products to the Chinese market on certain terms and supervision.
Not only that, but the US also wants to profit from the sale of the chip. Reportedly, NVIDIA can send its H200 chip to verified customers as long as the company provides a fee of 25 percent in each sale.
"We appreciate President Trump's decision to allow the American chip industry to compete in supporting high-pay jobs and manufacturing in America," an NVIDIA spokesperson said, quoted on Tuesday, December 9.
This approval was given about a week after US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick stated that the H200 export decision was in the hands of the US President. With the issuance of this licensing, the US has changed its stance on sensitive trade policy.

Previously, the US imposed strict licensing requirements in chip shipments to China. In fact, Trump had revoked export rules made during the Joe Biden administration.
After updating his decision, President Donald Trump stated that the decision to sell the H200 chip received a positive response from the President of China, Xi Jinping. This was conveyed in a post on Truth Social.
The H200 chip is much more sophisticated than the H20, a chip previously developed by NVIDIA to meet Chinese market restrictions. Even though it has been permitted, only the H200 model is about 18 months old that can be sold to China.
