JAKARTA Amazon will invest in the Netherlands in the next three years. According to Amazon's statement, the company will invest 1.4 billion euros or around IDR 27 trillion.

Launching from Reuters, this will be the largest investment Amazon has made in the country, particularly since the company launched its activities in 2020. The Netherlands is the fifth-largest economy in the euro zone.

Currently, Amazon has around 1,000 employees in the Netherlands. However, in terms of market, Amazon is still lagging behind. Amazon's online sales are behind the Dutch market leader, Bol.com, Ahold Delhaize's subsidiary.

"Netherlands are an important growth market for us," said Eva Fact, Head of Amazon Belgium and the Netherlands. Fact added that this investment would help companies improve their services.

In an interview with the Netherlands FD, Fact explained that part of the investment will be directed towards the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). This technology was launched to help entrepreneurs who sell products on Amazon platforms.

This is Amazon's effort to strengthen its position in the highly competitive European market. Previously, Amazon also announced a large investment in neighboring the Netherlands, Belgium.

In early October, Amazon announced an investment of USD 1.16 billion (IDR 19.2 trillion) for businesses in Belgium. These two investments also underscore Amazon's commitment to expanding.
