Apple Vision Pro M5 Comes With 120Hz Screen And Longer Battery

JAKARTA - Apple is again updating its mixed reality headset line through the presence of Vision Pro M5. This update is not a whole new generation, but a refresh from the previous version which now uses the M5 chip provides a major improvement in terms of performance, appearance, and comfort.

Vision Pro M5 is now powered by the M5 chip which is also used in the latest MacBook Pro and iPad Pro. Apple claims artificial intelligence (AI) performance has increased by 50 percent compared to the previous model which still uses the M2 chip. Features such as the creation of Persona or the conversion of ordinary photos into spatial views are now running faster and more efficiently thanks to the M5 architecture equipped with 10-core GPUs with the support of ray tracing and mesh shading.

This increase in computing power has a direct impact on visual quality. Vision Pro M5 is capable of displaying 10 percent more pixels on its high-resolution micro-OLED screen, resulting in sharper images and text.

The screen now also supports a refresh rate of up to 120Hz, providing a more subtle experience when viewing the surrounding environment or using the Virtual Display Mac feature. The M5 chip works side by side with the R1 chip which is tasked with processing data from 12 cameras, five sensors, and six microphones Ensuring images are displayed to the screen in just 12 milliseconds.

In terms of convenience, Apple also responds to user input by presenting a new Dual Knit Band in a purchase package. This double strap has an additional upper strap for a more balanced weight distribution and better stability during long-term use. Equipped with a double Fit Dial controller, users can adjust the level of tightness to the precision as needed.

The internal efficiency of the M5 chip also has an impact on battery life. Vision Pro M5 is now able to last up to 2.5 hours for public use and up to 3 hours for video playback an increase of about 30 minutes compared to the first model.

This latest headset also comes along with the visionOS 26 operating system which brings a variety of new features, such as widget integration into virtual space, upgrades to Persona, and full support for Apple Intelligence. Developers can now create a more complex spatial experience, including popular game controller support like PlayStation VR2 Sense.

Apple maintains the price of Vision Pro M5 at 3,499 US dollars, with capacity options of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. This device is already available for pre-order in several countries, and deliveries are scheduled to start Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
