JAKARTA - Apple officially ended support for the Clips app, removing it from the App Store. The Cupertino company announced that the app will no longer get updates in the future.
On the official support page on the Apple website, the company stated that since October 10, 2025, the Clips application is no longer available to new users. However, old users can still continue to use the application on existing iOS and iPadOS devices, and can still re-download via their Apple account if needed.
Without regular updates, Clips is expected to be increasingly difficult to use over time. Therefore, Apple advises users to immediately download their edited videos (with or without additional effects) into the photo library, so that they can still be watched and edited using other applications.

Launched in 2017, Clips was originally Apple's answer to app trends like Snapchat and Instagram Stories. Although not a social network, Clips allows users to combine photos and videos with filters, emojis, and music.
In the early days of its launch, TechCrunch journalist Brian Heater described the ability to edit Clips videos as too simple, but acknowledged that this application provided an opportunity for Apple to show integration between its hardware and software as well as offer alternatives for users who wanted to leave the rising social media ecosystem at that time.
According to MacRumors reports, Apple had added a number of new features to Clips after the initial launch, but in recent years, the updates provided were limited to bug fixes.
Apple fans at Reddit also seem not surprised by this news. Many claim to have not used Clips for a long time, even most admitted that they had never heard of it.
In addition, applications such as Clips focused on real videos of user recordings are now considered less relevant than artificial intelligence (AI)-based video applications such as Sora, a generative video app from OpenAI that recently reached 1 million downloads.
