OpenAI And Sur Energy Consider Data Center Projects Worth 25 Billion Dollars In Argentina

JAKARTA OpenAI and Argentine energy company Sur Energy have signed a letter of interest to build a giant data center project in Argentina with an investment value of up to 25 billion US dollars (around Rp408.25 trillion). This information was announced by the Argentine government on Friday 10 October.

According to an official statement, the project will include facilities with a capacity of up to 500 megawatts designed to support advanced artificial intelligence (AI) computing.

This project will be carried out under the RIGI tax incentive scheme imposed by the Argentine government since last year. If realized, the government said the project would be one of the largest technological initiatives and energy infrastructure in the country's history.

OpenAI, which now has more than 800 million ChatGPT users every week, has just become the world's most valuable startup with a valuation of 500 billion US dollars (around Rp. 8,165 trillion) after the sale of secondary shares completed last week.

Earlier this week, OpenAI also announced a number of new partnerships in its developer conferences, including cooperation with Spotify, Zellow, and Mattel, as well as launching various new tools to help developers create AI-based apps.
