JAKARTA - A Russian YouTuber may have obtained the iPad Pro M5 before its official launch, with a new video revealing almost all the details of the tablet.

Apple is expected to introduce the latest iPad Pro with the M5 chip before the end of 2025, likely as part of a second fall event. However, this upcoming tablet appears to have appeared in public.

The Wylsacom YouTube channel posted a video on Tuesday, September 30 which is claimed to feature the iPad Pro M5. The model shown is the iPad Pro 13-inch with 256GB storage, which was originally shown in a packing box that is almost identical to the M4 version, which also appears in the video.

The only initial difference between the two boxes is the mention of different chips in each packaging. The image at the front of the box looks the same, although there is a possibility this is a pre-release unit that has not yet used the final packaging.

When opened, this new iPad Pro looks almost identical to the M4 model. The back has no regulatory information and products like those in the M4 edition, which could also be an indication of a pre-release unit.

In the box, there is a charger that is claimed to have 45W power, not 20W as before. The colored cable that matches the iPad Pro casing color is also included.

When turned on, the YouTuber sees that the two models are registered differently in the Settings app, with each labeled a different chip.

In Geekbench 6, the registered M5 model has a 4.41GHz "ARM" chip, compared to "Apple M4 @ 4.41GHz" on the current model. YouTubers also note that the number of memories is different, with M4 having 8GB and M5 getting 12GB.

Test results showed increased performance, with the single-core score up from 3,748 on the M4 to 4,133 on the M5. The multi-core score also increased from 13,324 to 15,437. For Metal testing, the M4 recorded a score of 55,702, while the M5 reached 74,568.

Apart from internal changes, other checks do not show any major design changes. The camera on the back remains the same, and rumors about double camera setups are not visible in this new model.

Although rumors and claims before the event need to be watched out for, this leak is quite unusual because it has happened before. In October 2024, the same account released a video that tried the MacBook Pro M4. There is a discrepancy in the packaging of the model, as well as concerns that the screen could be falsified with "improved" details. However, after the launch, the unboxing proved to be genuine.

It is possible that this hardware will be acquired in a similar way in 2024 and 2025. Apple does not actively sell products in Russia, but this does not stop the development of "parallel imports" from other countries.

With the number of YouTube channel subscribers reaching 11.5 million, it is not surprising that the party behind it manages to get some models that have not yet been released, especially in the country where Apple is currently not operating.
