Trump Urges Microsoft To Fire President For Global Affairs Lisa Monaco, What's Up?

JAKARTA US President Donald Trump on Friday 26 September stated that Microsoft should have fired Lisa Monaco. The former official in two presidential governments of the Democratic Party and is now President of Global Affairs in Microsoft.

Trump's statement appears to be part of an attempt to take revenge on those he views as political enemies. It also comes a day after former FBI Director James Comey was charged with giving false statements and obstructing the congressional process.

Lisa Monaco once helped coordinate the US Department of Justice's response to the January 6, 2021 attacks by Trump supporters at the Capitol Building. He served as security adviser in the era of President Barack Obama and became Deputy Attorney General under President Joe Biden's administration.

Monaco started working at Microsoft in July 2025 as the company's global relations leader with various governments, according to its LinkedIn profile.

On Truth Social social media, Trump wrote: "Lisa Monaco is a threat to US National Security, especially given Microsoft's big contract with the US government. In my opinion, Microsoft should immediately dismiss it."

Trump also said that Monaco's security clearance had been revoked since February. In addition, he said Monaco is now prohibited from entering all federal properties because of "many wrong actions he has committed".

Microsoft declined to comment on Trump's statement. Monaco also have not responded.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, September 25, former FBI Director James Comey, who led the investigation into alleged 2016 Trump campaign relations with Russia, was formally charged with making false statements and obstructing congressional investigations.

Trump told reporters he suspected there would be other charges against figures he considered enemies, although he did not mention names specifically.

Since returning to US president in January 2025, Trump has used his power to pressure law firms who handle cases he does not like, cut federal funding for certain universities, and sack prosecutors involved in an investigation into him.

Trump has also pushed for criminal charges to be handed down against former National Security Adviser John Bolton, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and Democratic Senator Adam Schiff.

On Friday, the US stock market closed higher, with the Dow Jones index rising by about two-thirds of the percent.

The Trump administration has also actively interfered in major corporate affairs, including urging Intel CEOs to step down, before giving praise and allowing the government to share shares in the company. Under pressure from the Trump administration, Disney's ABC channel has even suspended comedian Jimmy Kimmel's show for several days.

Tech companies like Microsoft are also seen trying to improve relations with Trump's administration during his second term. A number of major tech industry leaders attended Trump's inauguration in January, and some of them have met him at the White House.

Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella recently attended a dinner at the White House with Trump and a number of other tech company leaders. Trump and Republicans have previously accused the tech industry of being biased against conservatives.
