Pixel Battery Crisis, Google's Unable To Overcome Problem

JAKARTA Many people hesitate to buy Pixel phones just because of one problem, namely batteries. This is not surprising because this phone has a lot of bad history about these components.

Although Pixel has a clear camera, not infrequently compared to the iPhone, and advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) features, this device battery is quite worrying. Over the past few years, this phone has had many problems with battery swelling.

Launching from Android Police, this problem first appeared in Pixel 4a. Several reports from users show the appearance of their mobile phone batteries that are swollen. Because of the swelling, the battery pushes the back cover out.

As a result, the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) issued a recall for this device. However, Google did not do the same. They only issue software updates to reduce charging speed.

Instead of being resolved, reports of battery swelling continued. The company eventually offered to replace the free battery or shop credit as compensation. Surprisingly, problems like this were repeated in the Pixel 6a.

Many users report the problem of a swollen battery. It doesn't stop there, some cellphones are also reported to be on fire, both when charged and not. This problem is much more worrying than the cases in various Pixel 4a phones.

To solve this problem, Google has again issued a mandatory update to limit charging. Unfortunately, the update again didn't work. As has happened, more and more incidents have emerged.

Again, Google offers similar improvements and compensations as in the Pixel 4a. Pixel 7a, Pixel 7, and Pixel 7 Pro are also experiencing similar battery problems. Although there are no official withdrawals, many user complaints have surfaced.

When compared to Samsung, the company's response is still much better at dealing with the problem of battery swelling. The Galaxy Note 7 had faced the same case in the past, but Samsung acted quickly by making a mass withdrawal.

This shows that Samsung is fully responsible for the devices they are developing. Although Google is also trying to solve the problem, Google's actions are still less efficient and tend to be passive.
