Launching from 9to5google, this problem affects users around the world in various types of devices, both Android and iOS. As long as the disturbance occurs, Google Maps cannot load the map layer properly so only a rough outline is visible.

To be clear, Google Maps looks like a rough sketch, but in a colored version. No details appear, either road or location, so users cannot use this app at all.

In addition to the problematic display of the map, navigation and location search also do not work properly. In some areas, information on the place does not appear so that the application cannot be used to search for directions.

It took up to two hours to restore Google Maps services on iOS. During the interruption, there were no incident reports on other Google services such as Gmail, YouTube, or Gemini.
