Roblox Introduces New AI Innovation Series For Developers

JAKARTA - Roblox Corporation, an immersive game platform and content creation, today announced its latest innovation series at its 11th annual conference Roblox Developers Conference (RDC).

Roblox announced a number of AI updates designed to provide artistic freedom, enhanced functionality, and smarter development assistance for creators.

Our goal is to provide developers with the opportunity to turn their ideas into a growing business. At Roblox a variety of useful AI tools will help creators turn the idea into a faster reality," said Nick Tornow, Roblox Senior Vice President of Engineering in a statement on Wednesday, September 10.

Some updates to Roblox AI features, among them:

4D objects: Roblox develops generative artificial intelligence by creating 4D objects, where the fourth dimension is interaction, which allows interaction between objects, the environment, and humans. Like a car that can be directly driven and has a door that can be opened. This 4D object is planned to be launched in the fourth quarter.

Real-time Voice Translation: Starting next year, users using English, Spanish, French will be able to enjoy real-time translations. This feature is a development of real-time chat translations released by Roblox in February 2024. Other languages are rumored to be following.

API Text-to-Speech: API text-to-speech, which is currently available in a limited launch phase, is able to convert text into audio using 10 configured voice variations. Creators can take advantage of this technology for transcription directly, pre-recorded audio clip creation, to vortices and NPC dialogues, as well as other voice over applications.

Speech-to-Text API: This API allows creators to take action via user voice commands. For example, users give verbal commands such as "Open Door" and "Fire the Laser." In addition, this API can also help create a caption. The limited release will be launched at the end of this year.

Improvement of Assistant and MCP: Assistant, which allows creators to use natural language to code, develop, texture, and understand, has grown to become more proactive and context conscious. In addition, later this month the assistant feature will be made compatible with the Context Protocol (MCP) Model.

This is important because apart from functioning as a MCP server, Assistant will act as a client and manage tasks with popular third-party services such as Sigma and Blockade Labs.
