Jakarta Xiaomi is rumored to be launching the Xiaomi 16 series at the end of this month in China. Ahead of its release, a recent leak revealed that the Xiaomi 16 Pro will be equipped with a 50 megapixel main camera made by SmartSens, which is said to be the same as the sensor to be used at the Huawei Mate 80 Ultimate Hospital.
According to Digital Fixed Focus tipster, the Xiaomi 16 Pro will use the SmartSens SC590XS sensor. This sensor is made with a 22nm process and has a large size of 1/1.28 inches with 1.2 pixel cavities. This technology supports full-pixel QPD autofocus, where each pixel contributes to phase detection for a more precise focus.
SC590XS sensors are reportedly able to record 4K native videos up to 120fps, as well as support wide dynamic range for better results in complex lighting conditions. Not only that, this camera is also said to be pairable with a variable physical aperture, so it is able to capture much more light than conventional configurations.

RYYB Technology For Brighter Results
One of the other flagship features of this sensor is the possibility of adoption of Huawei's RYYB pixel array, which replaces one of the green sub-pixels in the RGB matrix with yellow. With this change, the sensor is claimed to increase its light capture capability by up to 30 40 percent, producing brighter photos and details in minimal light conditions.
On the focus side, SC590XS brings the Quad Phase Detection technology that applies in all pixels. The combination with the AI motion-tracking algorithm makes the camera able to lock the subject moving quickly and stably, even in good condition and low lighting.
With the combination of the latest SmartSens SC590XS camera sensor and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, Xiaomi 16 Pro has the potential to become one of the most powerful smartphones in the market this year. Competition with Huawei Mate 80 hospitals is also believed to be getting tighter, especially in the premium class mobile photography sector.
