TikTok Fails To Overcome Sales Of Illegal GPS Tracking Tools On Its Platform

JAKARTA TikTok continues to work on tackling malicious content on its platform. However, recently a video promoting the sale of GPS tracking devices was found circulating on the platform.

The video that promotes this GPS tracking device is quite viral, and has even been viewed more than five million times. The impact is also quite large for stores selling it because hundreds of noisy tracking units have been sold at the store.

This is quite worrying because the tracking device was promoted in the wrong way. The video maker told viewers that the tool can be used to stalk a partner or anyone else.

For example, in one of the videos, the creator shows how to hide the tracker. He puts his tracker at the bottom of the car or even in the luggage of the person he wants to follow.

This tracker is also claimed not to be detected by the security features on the cellphone. In addition, this product is quite dangerous because it is said to not make a sound or can escape the tracking system on the cellphone.

Cheat Claims

Apart from the wrong purpose of selling, this device has many complaints. One of the complaints that often arise is a device compatible with Find My network. This can trigger a warning.

Although not a few get poor feedback, 9to5mac reports that this tracker is still selling for 10 US dollars (IDR 163.5 thousand) to date. TikTok doesn't seem to have handled this problem well.

The company has removed several promotional videos from this tracking device, but many are still circulating. One of them is quite a viral video with millions of viewers.

This situation shows that TikTok still fails to monitor content and products sold on its platform. The tools for stalking should not be easy to market and sell to the public.
