JAKARTA - The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) hopes that the Draft Law on Cyber Security and Resilience (KKS) can be ratified into law by the House of Representatives (DPR) in 2025.
Deputy for Cybersecurity and Economic Password of BSSN, Slamet Aji Pamungkas, said the process of drafting the KKS Law was currently still in the harmonization stage with the Ministry of Law (Kemenkum).
"Hopefully the target is this year, hopefully it will be ratified. If it's from us, we hope this year," said Slamet on the sidelines of the ITSEC Security Summit 2025 event which was held in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 26.
However, Slamet could not reveal when the KKS Bill would be passed. Slamet only said that BSSN had the hope that the law could be passed by 2025. "We hope this year," he said.
"The KKS Law is still harmonizing. Harmonization, already with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights being harmonized," he added.
In addition, when asked about the news about the KKS Bill that had arrived at the leadership of the DPR RI, Slamet admitted that he could not provide further information by arguing that he was not the party who directly handled it.
"Incidentally, I did not immediately handle it, there was the legal bureau who handled it and deputy one. So maybe I'll ask first, because I'm afraid of getting the wrong answer. Yes, hopefully this year," he said.

Meanwhile, the Director General of Digital Space Supervision Alexander Sabar has also confirmed before that this KKS Bill will not be used to spy on the public.
Alex said this regulation will focus on increasing the security of digital space from various threats, and not censoring. This means that the main objective of this regulation is to maintain Indonesia's digital security and sovereignty, not to limit people's freedom on the internet.
"So there is no state intention and then robs citizens of their right to privacy in the KKS law. It is more about how to maintain the security of our digital space, and safeguard our sovereignty in the digital space," explained Alex.
