Big Changes Reportedly Coming To IPhone In The Next Three Years

JAKARTA - Apple is rumored to be introducing an ultra-thin iPhone called the iPhone Air, followed by the iPhone Fold in 2026. This is an update for the 20-year edition in 2027 marking three consecutive years of the presence of a very different iPhone from the Cupertino company.

The iPhone release cycle has been known for its tick-tick-tock' pattern since the iPhone 3G. Several generations have experienced an extension of this pattern, such as the iPhone 16 which appears very similar to the series since the iPhone 12.

According to a report from Bloomberg's Power On bulletin, Apple is predicted to enter a period of heated design innovation in the next three years. While most models will retain the design as before, there will be at least one model every year that brings significant changes.

The first is the iPhone 17 Air. This model will be the pioneer of the design of the new camera blades, as well as the thinst and lightest in the iPhone lineup.

This thinness will have an impact on shorter battery life, and will likely use the Apple C1 modem. However, the iPhone 17 Air remains in the standard category, with the A19 processor and slower USB-C port.

Next is the iPhone Fold which has been rumored for a long time, which is expected to arrive in 2026 along with the iPhone 18 line.

The iPhone Fold is expected to have a Samsung Galaxy Fold similar look, with external screens and larger internal screens when opened.

This device will continue to carry iPhone design characteristics, but will require the re-arrival of Touch ID so that users can authenticate in various orientations or modes of use.

And the last one is the iPhone 20 in 2027, which is likely to be a warning edition like the previous iPhone X. Interestingly, Apple is said to be missing the name of the iPhone 19, although it is not clear whether this device will be called the iPhone 20 or the XX iPhone.

There is not much information about this warning edition device other than rumors about curved edges blending with Liquid Glass material introduced on iOS 26. Even so, the change will be a striking design step after years of relying on flat-angle designs since the iPhone 12.

More popular models until 2027 are likely to still come from series with old designs. However, with the presence of at least one new design model every year, Apple is believed to be able to increase sales while reducing criticism that the company lacks innovation.

These new devices will also benefit from Apple's efforts to revitalize its operating system and push towards Apple Intelligence. While still in its early stages, this update will be the basis for the next decade for Apple and may push for the achievement of the next billion iPhone units.
