Kuwait Blocks Roblox To Protect Children From Harmful Content

JAKARTA Indonesia is not the only country interested in blocking Roblox. Recently, the video game made by the United States company was blocked in Kuwait.

Launching from the Kuwait Times, the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) decided to block Roblox for security reasons. The video game is considered to contain harmful content for children.

In a statement, CITRA stated that this decision was taken to follow up on complaints from the public and related authorities. Not a few have complained about content issues that threaten the safety of children in the game.

Kuwait isn't the only country to block Roblox. The game has been blocked from a number of countries like Turkey, Oman, China, and Qatar.

The average country blocks Roblox because the game is considered inappropriate content for children under 18 years of age. Roblox has also been banned several times on charges of promoting violence, sexual acts, and harassment.

Although Roblox is now inaccessible in Kuwait, CITRA says this blocking is only temporary. Roblox access will reopen after CITRA negotiates with app developers.

CITRA will ensure the company 'deleting offensive or harmful content and providing adequate protection standards for children' before bringing back the video game.

Security Issues At Roblox

The Roblox developer himself realizes that his game will not be separated from potential violence to abuse against children. Therefore, Roblox made a special guide for parents to monitor their children's activities in Roblox.

"Roblox also has a risk of malicious behavior like cyberbullying," wrote developer Roblox on the Guidelines page. "Parents and caregivers (guardians) must convey a consistent message so that teenagers know how to recognize inappropriate behavior on the (our) platform."

Roblox also advised parents and guardians to play with their teenage children. By doing this, parents and guardians can prevent breakup problems to cyberbullying that may escape Roblox content moderation.
