JAKARTA Video editing can now be done anywhere, including on Google Drive. This ability was just launched by Google to reduce the need for using third-party applications.

Users can directly edit their videos via Google Drive without the need to download their videos first and upload them to the video editing application. This ability only applies to Google Drive which is opened via a browser.

Launching from Engadget, this feature is integrated with Google Vids. When the user opens the video preview on Google Drive, they will see the 'Open' button in the top right corner of the screen. When taped, the button will display the Google Vids page.

Videos will be directly added to the page and users can use various basic editing tools. They can crop videos, add text, and include background music.

After finishing editing, Drive will create a new file. Users can save or export their files. Unfortunately, this feature is limited to paid users. This means that users of free Google accounts will not be able to use the feature.

This feature is limited to Workspace Business and Enterprise package subscribers, non-profit organizations, and Gemini Education's add-on or Gemini Education Premium users. Google AI Pro and Ultra users will also get access to this feature.

This video editing feature is compatible with the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, and Microsoft Edge. Support for other browsers may vary. Supported video format includes MP4, Quicktime, OGG, and WebM.

There are several technical limitations to note. Each clip that is edited has a screening duration limit of up to 35 minutes. In addition, the size of the video file you want to edit should not be more than 4GB.
