Singapore's IBM has again shown its leadership in technological innovation by introducing the AI Robotics Agentic at the Industry 4.0 Studio Tour which was held at i4 Studio, Singapore, Wednesday, August 20. In a special zone entitled Agentic AI Robotics, visitors are shown how smart dog robots combined with multimodal artificial intelligence are able to improve work safety, operational readiness, to industrial efficiency.
This technology was introduced through two major demos that describe real applicability in the field.
The first demonstration of this technology was presented through the Mandai Robot, a smart robot operating at the Singapore Zoo.
The Mandai robot is specially designed to help zoo visitors around as well as become a center of information. Visitors can ask about anything related to the Singapore Zoo, from animal cage locations, show schedules, to educational information about existing animals. With intelligent navigation capabilities, this robot can also guide visitors to explore zoo areas more easily and interactively.
AI Kiar Ang from IBM explained that the Mandai Robot is not just an information robot, but a smart assistant who is always updated in real-time. This robot operates on the Singapore Zoo with data that Watson always updates, so every time there is a direct update appears in Mandai," he said.
The second demonstration titled Revolutionizing Safety with Creative AI and Image-Based Risk Detection & Rescue in Motion shows the robot dog's ability to support work safety in high-risk environments. With advanced sensors and multimodal AI, this robot can navigate dangerous areas, detect potential hazards, and find workers trapped in dynamic factory locations.

Multimodal AI allows robots to understand visual, verbal, and environmental data simultaneously, then take appropriate action in real time. As a result, emergency responses can be made faster, more accurate, as well as supporting monitoring and decision making in critical situations.
The third demonstration entitled RoboInspect: Real-Time Asset Insights via Maximo & Robot Dog shows how robot dogs with AI vision, sensors, and thermal cameras can patrol facilities autonomously. This robot is capable of detecting anomalies, capturing asset condition data, and assessing asset health directly.
All of this information is automatically connected to the IBM Maximo system, which then triggers automatic work commands and predictions of maintenance needs. In this way, the company can reduce the potential for large damage, minimize downtime, and realize smarter and more efficient operations.
The presence of AI Robotics Agentics is proof of how IBM continues to innovate by combining generative AI, computer vision, and integration of asset management systems to encourage industrial transformation. The presence of this dog robot not only highlights the future of automation, but also shows how technology can play a role in saving lives while optimizing industrial performance.
With this exhibition, IBM affirms its commitment to leading the implementation of AI in the real world, as well as showing how AI agents are able to present practical solutions to answer safety and efficiency challenges in the Industry 4.0 era.
