Fuel in the Thousand Islands is Rare, Fishermen on Panggang Island Have Difficulty Sailing

JAKARTA - Residents of Panggang Island, Thousand Islands, are facing serious problems due to the lack of fuel supply. This condition is considered to hinder the activities of fishermen who depend on the availability of fuel to go to sea.

Chairman of Commission D of the DKI Jakarta DPRD Yuke Yurike revealed that the scarcity of fuel was one of the main complaints of fishermen conveyed when his party received the aspirations of the people of the Thousand Islands.

"The urgency that we found from the public complaint is related to the scarcity of fuel that is very needed by the people of the island," said Yuke, Sunday, July 19.

According to Yuke, the distribution of fuel in the Thousand Islands has not reached all areas evenly. A number of islands are still experiencing supply constraints, including Panggang Island which is one of the affected areas.

"Based on complaints from residents, fuel supplies in the Thousand Islands are only available on several islands. It is not evenly distributed across the islands. One of the islands that is not distributed is Panggang Island," said Yuke.

This condition is of concern to Commission D because most of the residents of Panggang Island depend on the fishing sector for their livelihood. Without adequate fuel supplies, fishermen find it difficult to carry out sea activities.

"Because one of their livelihoods (residents) is fishermen," he continued.

Yuke encouraged the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government to immediately find a solution so that the fuel needs of residents on the island can be met. According to him, fuel distribution must be a concern so that fishermen are not constantly constrained when looking for income.

The D Commission of the DKI Jakarta DPRD will also map the fuel needs on a number of islands in the Thousand Islands. This step will be the subject of further discussion with the DKI Provincial Government, including in the discussion of the budget.
