Google Gets Three Weeks To Reshuffle Android App Store

JAKARTA After losing against Epic Games in court, Google had to overhaul the Google Play Store. According to Google's confession, they only had 14 days to overhaul their app store.

This order was issued by the court after Epic won his antitrust lawsuit some time ago. However, Google admits that it objected to the duration of time given because the reshuffle of the Google Play system could not be carried out in a short time.

Google also filed an emergency suspension and the applicant was successfully approved by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Now, the technology company has additional time to manage Google Play in accordance with court decisions.

With this suspension, Google now has three weeks to implement a new policy. They have to make some important changes such as stopping practices that force developers to use Google Play Billing.

In addition, Google is no longer able to limit developers in determining application prices. They also cannot share profits with mobile phone and operator manufacturers in exchange for the exclusivity or pre-installation of the app on Google Play.

This specified time duration does not include the big demands of Epic Games. Google, launching from The Verge, is not yet required to allow third-party app stores to enter Google Play.

This means that Google will not have a problem if Epic Games Store is not available on Google Play. This application is also expected not to be present at the Google app store in the near future.

Judge James Donato gave Google eight months to design the necessary security system. This system will allow third-party app stores to enter the Android ecosystem. With this delay, the presence of third-party app stores is expected to appear in 2026.
