The Release Date Is Getting Closer, Will GPT-5 Launch Soon?

JAKARTA - After experiencing delays earlier this year, the GPT-5 is now expected to be launched soon. There are new leaks and internal references indicating that the release date is imminent. This latest model is rumored to be offering integrated task handling capabilities, better reasoning, and reduced hallucinations, marking a big leap from the GPT-4.

Based on the OpenAI AI model release schedule, the GPT-5 is expected to launch earlier this year. However, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman announced that its launch was postponed. Altman stated that the GPT-5 will be present this summer, and now the release date appears to be getting closer.

Altman never mentioned for sure when the GPT-5 will be released in the summer. However, it is believed that the release date of the GPT-5 is very close. This is based on leaks and hints found online showing that OpenAI is almost releasing its newest AI model.

One of the clues was an upload on X by engineer Tibor Blaho. Blaho shared a screenshot of the configuration file dated July 13, 2025 which mentions GPT-5 Reasoning Alpha. In addition, independent researchers found references to the GPT-5 in OpenAI's internal repository, BioSec Benchmark. This suggests that the AI model is being tested in some form.

Lastly, during a discussion on the new ChatGPT Agent feature, Xikun Zhang of OpenAI said that the GPT-5 was on its way.

One of the biggest changes is that GPT-5 is designed as an integrated model. That is, this model can carry out various tasks of one demand. This is different from the current GPT model, where some models are better for research, some for coding, and others for general purposes. GPT-5 is also rumored to be addressing hallucinatory problems and misunderstandings.

Although many users are looking forward to improvements and changes that GPT-5 will bring, OpenAI does not remain silent. Ahead of launch, OpenAI has introduced variants of the GPT-4 model, including GPT-4.1 and GPT-4.5, the latter designed for research.

OpenAI also announced the ChatGPT Agent, which is the company's approach to an AI agent that will help users automate various tasks. This feature is currently only available to ChatGPT Pro customers. However, other paid subscribers are expected to be able to access it soon, with some restrictions on the number of queries per month.

In addition, there are rumors that OpenAI is developing its own AI-powered browser. This may be a response to Perplexity, which recently launched their AI Comet browser.
