JAKARTA - The Indonesian government through the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) has prepared a curriculum for artificial intelligence (AI) and coding subjects for students.

This curriculum is designed to have a positive impact on students, such as logical and analytical thinking skills. As well as providing an understanding of not only technology, but about its ethical responsibilities.

Adopting the AI curriculum for students, CEO of Hactiv8, Juventia Vicky Riana emphasized the importance of basic understanding and digital mindset rather than just introducing certain tools or software.

"Digitalization is not just mastering tools, but mindsets. Why do we have to go digital, what to do, and what approaches we have to take," Vicky said at the IBM Skills Build Developer Initiative launch event on Thursday, July 17 at IBM's office, Jakarta.

According to Vicky, the introduction of AI must be adjusted to the age rate and understanding of students. He gave an example, at the elementary level it is quite introduced to basic concepts and technological benefits, including through interactive media such as games.

In addition, Vicky also highlighted the importance of conveying material in stages and in a context. Because according to him, the complexity of a discussion, be it AI or coding, has a level difference.

If I meet an elementary school student, I teach it is, how about building a game. When entering a child aged 12 years and over, how to build a game with Minecraft, how to code with Minecraft. It is adjusted to his age, "he explained.

He realized that AI tools and platforms will continue to develop, and what is relevant today could no longer be effective in the future. Therefore, the mindset to continue learning is crucial.

"The tools will continue to grow, the complexity will also increase. The important thing is to form a mindset that technology will continue to grow," said Vicky.
