Xiaomi Denies Breaking Partnership With Leica

JAKARTA Xiaomi said that they would continue to cooperate with optical camera manufacturer Leica. This statement was made to refute the alleged end of the partnership between the two companies.

Previously, Xiaomitime stated that the Chinese company would cut ties with Leica in the near future. Xiaomi will reportedly stop using the Leica camera on its newest high-end phone and switch to an internal-made camera.

This news was directly denied by a Xiaomi spokesperson. In a statement that VOI received through a written message, the company stated that it would continue to partner with Leica. The two are still working together in developing mobile photography capabilities.

"This partnership continues to develop, based on a common vision to push the boundaries of mobile photography capabilities. The latest rumors that the end of this collaboration are not true at all," said a spokesman for Xiaomi Indonesia on Monday, July 7.

Instead of breaking up partnerships, Xiaomi and Leica will actually bring more photography innovations on the latest phones. The two companies will continue to work together in integrating advanced optical technology and imaging into Xiaomi devices.

"Both companies remain committed to strengthening this strategic partnership and presenting more imaging solution innovations on Xiaomi smartphones," the spokesperson added.

The Xiaomitime report also states that brands under Xiaomi, such as Redmi and POCO, will be affected by the termination of cooperation with Leica. All flagship phones produced by Xiaomi will be called the loss of Leica label on the camera.

With this rumor being denied, all Xiaomi and Redmi phones will certainly bring the best lens from Leica. Users will still get advanced camera support.
