JAKARTA Indonesia also participated in the 6th KIBO Robot Programming Challenge (RPC) competition. During the event, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) will become the national coordinator.

As in previous years, the national selection was carried out first to get the best candidate. This national selection has started on July 3 through a program called KIBO RPC 6th Indonesia Preliminary Round.

During this stage, BRIN will see if the programs run by the participants are successful, such as at the Simulation Run stage on June 24. All participants are encouraged to resolve challenges related to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) approaches.

"The participation in the KIBO RPC is the initial entry gate for the younger generation to get to know more about the space research ecosystem in Indonesia," said Rizal Suryana, a young expert researcher in the Ionosphere of the BRIN Space Research Center, quoted on Monday, July 7.

Through this competition, BRIN hopes that the younger generation can advance national science and technology. Thus, the space sector in Indonesia can develop rapidly, such as Japan, India, and other countries.

KIBO RPC is a competition organized by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and the US Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA). Participants who are students to students will create a robot program to operate in the Kibo module.

Kibo is a Japanese research facility located on the International Space Station (ISS). After participating in the preliminary round held by BRIN, participants entering the final round will compete directly on the ISS in September this year.
