JAKARTA - Samsung is developing a new interface system update called One UI 8.5 not One UI 8.1 or 8.1.1 as many people might expect.
If you have been following Samsung for a long time, you may remember that they had released version x.5, and the last time they launched One UI 2.5 about four years ago. Now, that tradition is back with One UI 8.5.
Although Samsung has yet to announce its official release date, the report states that the Android 16-based One UI 8.5 will first be present in the Galaxy S26 series at the beginning of next year, most likely in January or February 2026. After that, this update will be rolled out in stages to other Galaxy devices.
This update is expected to be available for almost all devices that have received One UI 8.0, including flagship since 2022 as well as several middle-class and entry-level devices.

This list is made based on the assumption that all devices receiving One UI 8.0 will also receive One UI 8.5 updates. If there is a change from Samsung, this list will be updated according to the latest official information.
Samsung is currently focusing on developing One UI 8.0, having previously passed versions 7.1 and 7.1.1 due to the delay in the release of One UI 7.0. This time, instead of jumping directly to One UI 9.0, Samsung chose to release One UI 8.5 as a transition update.
It remains unclear whether Samsung will continue to use the x.5 naming pattern for minor updates in the future.
