JAKARTA WhatsApp launched a summary feature of AI-powered messages for its users in the United States. This feature is designed to help users join group chats quickly and easily.

The summary of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the most practical feature. In the context of communication, this feature can save users significant time, especially for those who are often left behind in long and crowded group conversations.

WhatsApp users in the US can now take advantage of their features. They can summarize unreaded messages in each chat room. This will make it easier for them to catch up without having to browse a series of memes, jokes, or long-winded scheduling discussions.

WhatsApp emphasizes that this feature still prioritizes user privacy. Neither Meta nor WhatsApp can access private messages nor a summary generated by the AI Summary. This is possible through innovative Personal Processing technologies.

No one else can see the use of the message summary feature. This ensures that users' privacy remains protected at all times. Apart from privacy, WhatsApp also highlights the importance of consent and transparency.

Therefore, the use of Personal Processing features such as Message Summary is optional. This feature was also disabled by default when it was first released. Users have full control to choose whether to use this feature or not.

They can also take advantage of the Advanced Chat Privacy feature to determine which chats can be shared for the AI feature. This provides additional flexibility in managing personal data.

For now, the AI summary feature is only available in English and specifically for users in the United States. WhatsApp plans to expand its regional language support and availability by the end of this year.
