JAKARTA - Huawei together with Alliance (WAA) and industry pioneers launched an in-depth study (white paper) on the Development and Study of CSI Wi-Fi Sensing Cases for Smart Campus.

This study reviews the latest developments in the Wi-Fi Channel State Information (CSI) sensing technology as well as various studies of cases of its widespread use in smart camps.

This initiative aims to encourage the progress of the CSI Wi-Fi sensing industry while creating a smart space through the concept of Wi-Fi + X which allows everything to be detected through the Wi-Fi network.

This White paper highlights how the concept of Wi-Fi + X combines connectivity and sensing capability to accelerate smart digital transformation in the campus environment.

For example, Wi-Fi + CSI allows detection of human existence that is beneficial for various scenarios such as contactless hotel check-ins, smart energy savings, school dormitory security inspections, to intrusion detection in industrial safety systems.

Furthermore, the Wi-Fi + millimeter wave is able to identify abnormal behavior such as falling, as well as detecting respiratory rate and heart rate, making it very useful in smart health services such as vital sign monitoring.

"We are very confident that Wi-Fi + X will encourage the creation of campus digital twin, campus smart spaces, and smooth integration with the campus management system," said Shawn Zhao, President of the Campus Network Domain, Data Communication Product Line, Huawei.

Zhao believes this innovation will improve aspects of security, privacy protection, energy savings, asset management, and contactless health monitoring, so that campus operations become safer and smarter.
