JAKARTA OpenAI seems no longer satisfied with just making ChatGPT a regular chatbot. Based on an internal strategy document entitled "ChatGPT: H1 2025 Strategy" revealed in the US Department of Justice's antitrust hearing against Google, OpenAI is drafting an ambitious plan to make ChatGPT a personal 'super assistant' on each device, replacing the dominance of Google's main services such as Search, Gmail, Maps, and YouTube.
According to the leak, ChatGPT is designed to get to know, understand, and help users as a whole "apparently a smart, trustworthy, and emotional personal assistant."
"In the first half of next year, we will start developing ChatGPT into a super-assistant: a smart entity that knows who you are, cares about what you need, and helps complete all tasks smart people can do with computers," OpenAI wrote in the document.
What Is Super Assistant?
OpenAI describes super assistants as AI entities with T-shaped capabilities: broad in daily affairs, and deep in specific areas such as coding.
Examples of daily usefulness:
- Answering questions
- Planning for holidays
- Sending emails and managing calendars
- Helping shopping or finding a house
- Contact a lawyer or register at the gym
Meanwhile, for in-depth expertise, ChatGPT will be focused on completing complex tasks such as programming or other professional work.
