JAKARTA - Perhutani, the manager of forest resources under State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), utilizes Alibaba Cloud's technology in efficiently maintaining and protecting forests.

In collecting geospatial data, Perhutani Head of IT Development and Technology Department Prasetyo Herlambang said that Alibaba's technology helps them access their data anytime and anywhere.

"So, we ask Alibaba to ensure that the applications we place there can still be accessed at any time. When it comes to the peak, we do it easilyscaleable," said Prasetyo on Wednesday, May 28.

However, for specific partnerships in the geospatial realm, Perhutani has not established in-depth cooperation in this field. For now, Perhutani is only utilizing Alibaba's services to increase the volume of data they collect in the forest.

Using Alibaba's Artificial Intelligence (AI) solution, Perhutani wants to get real-time data processing, integrate data smoothly, provide sophisticated tools, to strengthen their infrastructure.

So far, services from Alibaba Cloud have helped Perhutani in monitoring deforestation risks, eradicating illegal logging, and optimizing conservation efforts to increase monitoring in the forest.

"Alibaba Cloud's technology answers our needs. Their cloud infrastructure allows data-based decision-making to balance ecological conservation with sustainable forest resource management," Perhutani said.

Although he has utilized technology from Alibaba, Perhutani stated that this data is still not available simultaneously because the location of the forest that Perhutani manages is still in the remote area. For now, the Perhutani application will manage data separately after there is a signal.
