JAKARTA MediaTek, Qualcomm's competitor, stated that it will launch its first 2nm fabricated chipset. This chipset is claimed to be coming in September.
The launch of this advanced chipset was announced at the Computex 2025 event. Reporting from the India Today report, MediaTek CEO Rick Tsai said that the 2nm chipset will offer better performance and greater efficiency for smartphones.
Not much information has been shared about this latest chipset. However, according to reports circulating, this very small fabrication chipset will support high-level Artificial Intelligence (AI) processing.
Basically, phones that offer AI-on-device capabilities require a very sophisticated processor. The processors used should be able to perform complex tasks locally and reduce latency.

The most important part is high-level privacy. This latest chipset will probably focus on all these needs. The reason is, MediaTek is targeting flagship or flagship phones that usually require advanced technology.
Tsai also did not reveal the name of the chipset. However, the Deputy Chair of MediaTek stated that the 2nm-fabricated chip whose company developed will offer a more reliable next-generation System-on-a-Chip (SoC).
During its brief presentation, Tsai said that the chipset will be jointly produced by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC). It is not clear when the two companies will start producing their chipsets.
