JAKARTA Google will allow children to use Gemini, a big language model (LLM) that can help users work. This platform will be allowed for children under 13 years of age.

The plan to expand Gemini's access to children has been submitted by Google via email from users who use Family Link.

The company says children can use Gemini on Android with parental monitoring.

However, before Google allowed children to access Gemini, the tech giant reminded parents of Gemini' function. Parents should explain that this artificial intelligence (AI) model is not human.

Parents also need to monitor their children's actions while using Gemini because they cannot have various sensitive information. For example, sharing phone numbers, addresses, or other important data consciously or unconsciously.

According to Google, Gemini can play a major role in encouraging children's creativity. In fact, if parents run out of story ideas for their children, they can ask Gemini for help in making and reading the story.

Google insists that it will not process children's data to train AI. The company also doesn't guarantee that Gemini will be 100 percent safe for children as this AI model can make mistakes and display unwanted content.

It's not yet known when Gemini will be allowed to children. However, Google Monastery Karl Ryan, in The Verge's report, said, "They (parents) will get additional notifications when children can easily access Gemini."
