JAKARTA - Australia is reportedly fighting against the monopoly carried out by two giant American technology companies, namely Google and Apple. The Australian Government, through the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC), urged action to fight the monopoly carried out by the US company.

"Apple and Google are not only running the application market, they are also competing in it with their own applications," said Rod Sims as Head of the ACCC as quoted by the BBC, on April 28.

Previously, the ACCC instructed application developers and users to control purchases. This statement is part of Australia's actions in controlling its own country market which is controlled by Apple and Google.

Rod also added that he regretted the restrictions imposed by Google and Apple. This action is claimed to encourage users to only choose the two application stores so that they have no other choice.

Not only that, the ACCC also recommends that Apple and Google pre-installed applications on the user's cellphone be removed. Developers are expected to look for information in advance about how the application was found.

The Kangaroo Country Government also prevents Google and Apple from utilizing data originating from their respective application stores, including being used for company promotions.

Google and Apple have drawn criticism from a number of developers. The application developers are "forced" to pay their mandatory share with a commission of 30 percent of paid downloads.

This triggered Australia to attack the monopoly of the world's technology giants. Some time before, the Australian government succeeded in passing laws regulating Facebook and Google to pay for news content that they posted on their platforms. Both are obliged to pay news publishers.
