JAKARTA Google revealed the number of AI Overview users, a Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered feature designed for Google Search. This feature has reached 1.5 billion users per month.
This amount was disclosed by Alphabet CEO, Sundar Pichai, in the company's earnings report for the first quarter of this year. However, it did not explain what kind of use the company calculated.
The reason is, AI Overview will appear automatically every time a user searches for something in a Google search engine. For example, when a user asks a complicated question, AI Overview will summarize answers from various websites.
It seems, every answer given by AI Overview will be calculated by Google. Thus, this amount of usage is not surprising because billions of people use Google Search every day.
AI Overview was first launched in May last year. This feature continues to get improvements, ranging from hallucinations or answers to composing which are reduced to developing the ability to process more types of queries.
That way, AI Overview can summarize more topics, including complicated or complex ones. With the development of this feature, Google also adds a feature that can increase the company's revenue, namely advertising.
By using an ad service in AI Overview, Google will place product recommendations that match user queries. For example, when a user is looking for a way to remove certain stains, AI Overview will display related products at the bottom.
