JAKARTA The Google Assistant was removed again on Tuesday, April 22. This time, Google removed the virtual assistant from Wear OS-based watches through the Google Play Store update.

In fact, Google doesn't really remove Assistant from its smartwatch. The company just changed the name of its virtual assistant in the menu view. This change will be seen once the Google Play Store is updated to version 1.18.x.

There are two Assistant menus that seem to change, namely the Assistant and At a Glance menu. When the first menu is launched, the watch will launch voice input to record user orders. Now, the menu is only named Google.

The menu icon has also changed. Previously, Wear OS displayed the Google Assistant icon, but now its icon has turned into a generic flash according to a 9to5google report. Even though it looks similar, the icon is not Gemini.

If the menu is played, users will continue to access Google Assistant. However, from this change, it is clear that Google will replace its old virtual assistant with Gemini support. It is not certain when Gemini will be added to it.

The next change you can see is the At a Glance menu. The menu used to view the weather and upcoming events has not changed its name. However, the icon changed from being the company's 'G' logo.

Just like the first menu, At a Glance has not changed its function. Wear OS still provides Google Assistant services for now. However, the service can be accessed by opening a list of complications.
