Palo Alto Networks Reveals The Development Of Cybersecurity Incidents In 2025

JAKARTA Palo Alto Networks released a Unit 42 Global Incident Response 2025 report regarding the focus of cyber attacks at this time. In the report, it was recorded that 44 percent of incidents involved web browsers.

Of the various security incidents consisting of cybercriminals are now focusing on disrupting business operations, carrying out attacks with the support of Artificial Intelligence (AI), and other tactics that take advantage of ransomware and data theft.

All information regarding this security attack was obtained from 500 cases handled by Unit 42 from October 2023 to December last year. Data regarding this cyber attack was also taken from cases that occurred in 2021 in 38 countries, including Indonesia.

Many important sectors are targeted for cyber attacks in Indonesia, including government agencies and telecommunications companies. According to Palo Alto Networks, the government must respond quickly and accurately to the risk of this attack.

The Ministry of Communication and Information (Komdigi) needs to accelerate the creation of cybersecurity regulations to secure public infrastructure. In addition, collaboration between all stakeholders, including the public and private sector, is urgently needed.

"Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility, requires collaboration and an integrated approach to stay at the forefront and ensure resilience to cyber threats that continue to grow," said Adi Rusli, Country Manager of Indonesia Palo Alto Networks.

The Unit 42 report also revealed that the majority of cyber attacks attack important sectors in Indonesia, one of which is Finance. Seeing this, both the government and companies need to take more proactive action in addition to strengthening cybersecurity regulations.

"Cyber attacks on a number of important sectors such as financial institutions, service providers, and government agencies in Indonesia are increasingly sophisticated," said Adi. "This means that businesses must take a proactive approach in order to strengthen their cyber defense and build a more capable digital ecosystem."
