Pixel 9A Expanded To 32 Countries, Indonesia Not Included

JAKARTA Google is starting to expand the presence of its phones in more countries. This expansion only applies to the Pixel 9A, a mid-range phone that was just introduced on Wednesday, March 19.

Thanks to the number of markets being increased, the Pixel 9A is the phone with the most availability countries for series A. The reason is, Google is not only expanding this phone to one or two countries, but nearly ten countries.

Last year, the Pixel 8A was only sold in 23 countries according to Google records on its support page. This phone can be obtained in retail stores available in a number of countries. Users can also buy online in supported countries.

Unlike the Pixel 9A, this phone will be available in 32 countries, including 23 countries that are the Pixel 8A market. The increase of nine countries in the past year is supported by sales of the Pixel 9 series which was expanded at the end of last year.

Even though the sales area has been expanded, Indonesia is still not included in the list. Pixel 9A also cannot be traded freely in Indonesia because the device is included in the unofficial category, including other Pixel series.

The fate of this phone is almost the same as the iPhone 16 series some time ago. Pixel 9A has not yet received a Domestic Component Level (TDKN) certificate. In other words, domestic component investment has not yet reached 40 percent.

In addition, to obtain a TDKN certificate, Google must fulfill one of the three schemes, including innovation, manufacturing development, or development carried out domestically. Until now, Google has not met the three.

Not only that, Pixel is also a device that cannot be sold freely because it has the Motion Sense feature which uses Soli radar technology at a frequency of 60Ghz. This technology does not yet have an operational permit in Indonesia.

If Indonesians want to buy Pixel 9A, they can buy legally in the closest country such as Malaysia or Singapore, then pay taxes when bringing their cellphones into the country. The following is a list of countries that support sales of Pixel 9A, citing from 9to5google.

Although Google launched four colors for this latest cellphone, namely Peony, Iris, Porcelain, and Obsidian, the color availability in each country is likely to be different. This device has been officially introduced, but can only be purchased on April 4.
