JAKARTA - Google recently launched an update for their artificial intelligence model, Gemini 2.0 Flash, which has the ability to remove watermarks from images produced by artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Responding to this, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Nezar Patria stated that in principle, the use of AI must uphold the value of transparency and accountability.

"Transparency means that he must refer to the sources used for managing or training machine learning. And also accountability, so he can be accounted for for for for the data used," Nezar told the media some time ago.

However, there are no bound rules regarding the use of AI technology. Nezar admitted that currently the government is discussing the relationship between the use of data owned by the agency, agency, or individual processed by the AI machine, especially related to copyright.

According to him, similar discussions were not only carried out by the Indonesian government. But countries around the world are also paying more attention to finding the right solution.

"This is still in discussion and its development is very dynamic. We hope that all of this will become factors that will enrich our arrangements in the future," he said.

However, along with the ongoing discussions, Nezar emphasized that labeling or using watermarks for AI-generated content is needed for now.

"For the time being, labeling is effective enough to distinguish whether this is an AI product produced by AI or it is conventional," concluded Nezar.
