Thanks To Feature Updates, ChatGPT Can Double Total Weekly Users In Months

JAKARTA ChatGPT has succeeded in doubling the number of active users in less than six months. Starting last February, the OpenAI chatbot has a total weekly active user of 400 million.

This is good news for OpenAI, especially since this increase can be reached within a few months. When compared to ChatGPT user data a few years ago, the increase in the number of weekly users of the platform went slowly.

ChatGPT is one of the fastest apps to reach 100 million monthly active users, but the company takes up to a year to get 100 million weekly active users.

This achievement was only achieved in November 2023. Next, ChatGPT takes up to nine months to double its weekly number of active users to 200 million. This number was achieved in August last year.

Now, the company has again doubled its weekly number of active users to 400 million. Interest in the Artificial Intelligence (AI) model appears to have emerged after OpenAI introduced the multimodal capabilities of the GPT-4o.

The reason is, according to a16z data quoted via TechCrunch, the surge in ChatGPT users was seen from April to May last year. The increase in weekly users also seemed to increase from July to August.

Most likely, this is supported by the emergence of the Advanced Voice Mode feature. Furthermore, the increase in weekly users seen from September to October occurred after the o1 model was released. That way, ChatGPT is able to maintain the number of users thanks to regular releases or updates.
